Top Ten Christmas Tips

Eat, Drink and Be Healthy.

LRG Fitness offers you our top tips to help you survive the festive period and beyond!

1.Prior to eating breakfast, begin with a mug of hot water to rehydrate the body and increase your metabolic rate to burn more calories throughout the day. Add a slice of lemon to help flush the digestive system.

2.Don’t be tempted to deviate from your normal exercise routine. Ensure you get this in before the festivities start as a few days out of routine can seriously impact your motivation.

3.Christmas can often mean excessive alcohol consumption! Ensure at the very least you stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water in-between.

4.Buffets can wreak havoc – with lots of foods super high in calories and salt. Check out the buffet before you make any choices. Fill your plate first with mostly salads and vegetables then go for the protein such as turkey or chicken. There’s normally a fruit option so chose this over the sugary and fat-laden desserts.

5.Don’t ruin the big event and make sure you get enough shuteye. Sleep deprivation increases your chances of getting sick. Increase your odds and improve your body and mind by ensuring you get your sleep.

6.Drop the white and go with brown. Wholegrain cereals, brown rice and wholemeal bread, nuts & seeds are high in fibre which helps combat hunger as foods high in fibre swell up in your stomach, helping to fill you up. All of which means you are less likely to opt for those sugary snacks in-between meals.

7.Embrace vegetables – a natural appetite suppressant be sure to include in your daily meals. Bread, on the other hand, is an appetite stimulant and a reason why you’re given it at restaurants!

8.Adopt a lifestyle approach and not a quick fix. Yes, if you follow a diet fad and you’re living off kale, of course you’ll lose weight initially, however, once finished and you go back to your old habits invariably you’ll regain your pre-weight and more.

9.Write a list of three goals (only) that you want to achieve in 2018. One of them should be how many times you’re going to LRG each week!

10.Take some responsibility, it is only you who can make that change.
